I build your site. Then I keep it running.
Web design for small businesses — built and looked after by one person.
No agency, no disappearing freelancer. Ferena is a one-person studio: a fixed price to design and build your site, then one flat monthly fee to host it, secure it, back it up, and make the small changes you need — for as long as you want it looked after.
Based in the Solomon Islands. I work with clients across the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.
Most small business sites don't fail on launch day. They fail eighteen months later, quietly.
The freelancer disappeared.
You paid someone on a marketplace or through a friend. The invoices stopped, and so did they. Now nobody has the login.
Nothing was watching it.
No backups, no security updates, no one checking it was still online. It went down, and it stayed down.
You can't change a word of it.
It's locked inside someone else's account, someone else's page builder, or a login you were never given.
What you actually get
The build (one-time)
- A custom-designed site built around your business, not a template with your logo dropped in
- Fast, mobile-friendly pages that work properly on a phone, not just a laptop
- A contact form or booking link that actually reaches you
- Basic on-page SEO so people searching for your business can find it
- Your domain and hosting set up and connected correctly from day one
Every month after that
- Hosting, domain renewal, and SSL certificates, all managed for you
- Nightly backups, so a bad update or a hack never means starting over
- Uptime monitoring — if the site goes down, I know before you do
- Security updates, applied as soon as they're available
- A set number of content or design changes each month: email me what you want changed, I make it live
How it works
Most brochure sites go from first email to live in about three weeks. Bigger sites take longer, and I'll tell you a real timeline in the quote, not "it depends."
Day 1
You tell me about the business
A short email or call. What you do, who your customers are, what pages you need, and what's wrong with what you have now, if anything.
Within 2 business days
You get a fixed quote
A written price for the build and the care plan that fits, before anything starts. No hourly rate, no surprise invoice later.
1–2 weeks
I design and build it
You see drafts as they're ready and reply with changes by email. No project dashboard to learn, no logins to juggle.
2–3 days
You approve it, it goes live
I connect your domain, set up hosting, SSL, and backups, and put the site live. You get the login, I keep a copy.
From day one live
The care plan starts
Monitoring, backups, and security updates run in the background. When you want something changed, you email me.
Pricing
One price to build the site. One flat monthly fee after that, which covers hosting and everything needed to keep it running, plus a set amount of your time each month for changes. Cancel the monthly plan whenever you want.

Questions worth asking before you hire someone
Who owns the site?
You do. The domain is registered in your name, or transferred to you if you already own it, and you get full login access to the hosting and the site itself from day one. If you ever leave, you leave with everything.
What happens if I want to stop the monthly plan?
The site keeps working, but the things I do for it stop: no more backups, monitoring, security updates, or included changes. You're free to host it elsewhere, hire someone else, or take over admin yourself. I'll help you move it if you need to.
How fast are change requests?
It depends on your plan, but most are turned around within 1–2 business days once I have what I need: the text, the image, or a clear instruction. Bigger requests take longer, and I'll give you a real timeframe when you ask, not a vague one.
Do you work across time zones?
Yes. Most of my clients are in the US, UK, Australia, or New Zealand, and I'm based in the Solomon Islands. We won't always be online at the same time, but most of this runs by email, and I reply within one business day.
What if I already have a domain?
Good — I'll connect it to your new site, or help you move it if your current registrar is causing problems. You keep ownership of the domain either way; I never hold it hostage.
What if I need more changes than my plan allows in a month?
I'll do them and bill separately at a fair hourly rate, or you can save the request for next month. I'll always tell you before doing paid extra work, never bill you as a surprise.
Do you write my copy or design a logo?
I'll help shape and edit copy you've drafted, and can point you to good places to get a logo made if you don't have one. But writing your business's story and getting a logo made are usually best done by you or a specialist — I focus on building and maintaining the site itself.
Tell me about your project
A few lines is enough to start: what your business does, what kind of site you need, and roughly when. I reply within one business day.
